July 18, 2016 By Jittery Cook 7 Comments

It could hit you any time of day. You need a quick pick me up, and you want to feel full, not heavy. You want something healthy, but luscious. And you want it now — something you can throw together in minutes or even seconds.  It’ll take a little advance planning. Good things usually do. After…

Savoury Asian Style Pancakes with Hot Sauce

July 10, 2016 By Jittery Cook 4 Comments

Spicy Garlicky Sesame Tofu Dinner Bowl

June 23, 2016 By Jittery Cook 6 Comments

My kitchen smells like a Korean fast food street stand, and I couldn’t be happier. Appetite for Books recently offered a Korean cooking class featuring Maangchi’s Real Korean Cooking cookbook — a great read, by the way — and the food feast opened my eyes to the beauty of Korean home cooking, Jittery style. Spicy Garlicky Sesame Tofu Dinner Bowl was inspired by Jeanette’s Warm…

1 Cup Salad – Boom You Win!

May 27, 2016 By Jittery Cook 13 Comments

Good health is so precarious. The healthier you are, the more you feel invincible. Then one day, when you’re not paying attention, your health can begin to show signs of slipping over into the not-so-healthy camp. That’s the day that you’ll take recipes like this 1 Cup Salad seriously. Today I’m turning over a new…

Black Beluga Lentil Salad & Tzatziki

May 23, 2016 By Jittery Cook 5 Comments

The film Forever Young  visits two of the world’s  Blue Zones, places on the planet where people live super long lives: Okinawa, Japan and Sardinia, Italy.  And what do all Blue Zoners have in common? They all rely on legumes for protein — beans, peas, lentils, etc.— says my buddy Harriet Sugar Miller, quoting the author of two Blue Zone books. I’ve been…

Glowing Carrot Soup with Roasted Parsnip Carrot Garnish

April 19, 2016 By Jittery Cook 10 Comments

No one loves to stay home more than I do. Everywhere I look are reminders of tasks left undone — pleasant tasks that call out “read me, no me, cook me, no me, watch me, no me, stretch out here, no here, listen to music, no to CBC.” But enough! It’s time to venture out. I…
