Wicked Tuna Tortillas with Fruit Salsa

April 17, 2015 By Jittery Cook 6 Comments

Everyone harbors secret scenarios of revenge for wrongs wrought upon them — scenarios that, were they played out, would lead to unspeakable catastrophes. But our emotional intelligence tells us to use constraint and keep our actions in check. We swallow our pride and sweep perceived injustices under the rug. It’s a matter of getting through life without provoking and escalating harm through acts of revenge.

If you want to witness the logical conclusion of ultimate vengeance, go see Argentine film director and screenwriter Damián Szifrón‘s dark black comedy movie, Wild Tales.

Prepare yourself to be shocked. And prepare yourself to see the best revenge of the bride scene ever put on film.

Now that your mind is on Spanish language entertainment, here’s a recipe to round out your experience, Wicked Tuna Tortillas with Fruit Salsa.

Tuna Tortillas with Fruit Salsa

Wicked Tuna Tortillas

  • 1/3 c 2 % plain yogurt
  • 1/4 c each chopped scallion,  cilantro
  • 2 t minced canned chipotle chilies
  • 2 cans flaked light tuna, strained, or white fish
  • 1 T taco seasoning mix
  • 8 mini tortillas
  • 2 limes

In a medium-sized bowl, mix tuna yogurt, onion, cilantro, chilies and seasoning mix. Spoon tuna mixture onto tortillas. Garnish with lime and Fruit Salsa. Serves 4. As an option, you can heat tortillas, wrapped in foil,  for 10 minutes at 350F before adding tuna and salsa.

  • 2 mangoes, finely chopped
  • 6 clementines, finely chopped

In a large bowl, combine fruit and lime juice. Refrigerate. Consume leftover Fruit Salsa in this Breakfast of Champions recipe, or as fruit salad.

Final notes:

  • Do you know why you should only consume light canned tuna and not white tuna?

  • Need an upbeat song to accompany your Wicked Tuna Tortillas? Here’s Enrique Iglesias in Bailando.

Thanks Jovina. It really is refreshing with the spicy kick and sweet fruits. I may try it in a lettuce wrap next time.

Love the combo of food and music and movies. I especially am enjoying the music by Enrique Inglesias. Loved seeing the fun and dancing. Thanks for all you share!
